As tensions around trade policies continue to rise, the future of cross-border seed sourcing has become increasingly uncertain. Recent developments suggest that tariffs on American agricultural products, including seeds, may increase significantly, making them less viable for small growers like us. In response, Tee’s Plants will be phasing out all American seed varieties by 2026 and significantly reducing them for 2025.
Why This Change?
Over the years, we’ve sourced high-quality seeds from both American and Canadian suppliers to offer the best selection to our customers. However, looming tariffs could drive up costs, create supply chain disruptions, and reduce the reliability of American seed imports. Rather than risk unpredictable pricing and availability, we’re proactively shifting our focus toward Canadian-grown and internationally sourced seed varieties that offer stability and sustainability.
What This Means for Our 2025 and 2026 Selections
- 2025: We will significantly reduce the number of American seed varieties in our catalog while introducing more Canadian and internationally sourced alternatives.
- 2026: We will eliminate all American seed varieties from our offerings.
Looking Ahead
This shift aligns with our long-term goals of supporting Canadian agriculture, maintaining stable pricing, and ensuring seed availability despite economic and trade uncertainties. We remain committed to offering high-quality, reliable, and competitively priced plants for our customers.
We appreciate your understanding as we navigate these challenges and look forward to growing stronger together.
